I'm going to share an email I sent to a friend today and part of my dream last night.
"Speaking of New York I had a dream last night about running what I assume was another Marathon, a friend of mine who hasn't ran a Marathon but is a avid runner (been running for 18 years) was running with me. My dad was there cheering me on too and there were some weird visuals along the road like a dead female lion or giant wild cat of some sorts beheaded floating in the sewer on the side of the road. WEIRD and disturbing! I woke up shortly after that. For some reason when I woke up I thought about running the New York Marathon. This may of occured during the dream I was in the half awake half asleep stage. I haven't heard about the New York Marathon other than I watched the later part of it this past fall. Haven't really thought about New York other than you and your family being there. I saw an ad for a Men's Health Urban triathlon (run, bike, stairs) I have been contemplating about.
I was curious if there was any symbolism to a lion being in my dream. I found this except from Webster's Dictionary Ten Thousand Dreams Interepted.
"To dream of a lion, signifies that a great force is driving you.
If you subdue the lion, you will be victorious in any engagement.
If it overpowers you, then you will be open to the successful attacks of enemies.
To see caged lions, denotes that your success depends upon your ability to cope with opposition."
Maybe I can see the lion as a force I conquered by me finishing the Marathon that is why she is dead on the side of the road being washed away in the sewer.
Oddly enough my dad showed me an article in Wall Street Journal about Tour De Everywhere about Multi day Bicycle Tours like Tour De France poping up all across the US. There is even one planned for Missiouri next year WOOHOO!. It made mention of Lance Armstong in the title of the article. My dad told me that he heard that Lance Armstrong is going to run in the New York Marathon this fall. I looked it up http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/news/story?id=2414546 on November 5th. Oddly enough I get 5 days extra vacation on Nov. 1st. I have a lot of respect and admiration for Lance Armstrong. He is one of my sport idols I guess you could say. Many signs pointing to me to running in the New York Marathon."
I'm sitting on the submit button! I filled out the application and got to the last page where it says $116.00 in non refundable processing and entry fee will be charged. WOW that is a little high and its unrefundable unless I'm not accepted then I get $107 back. This race hosts 35,000 people in New York so I can see why the high cost. I think I might think on this a little. I went to the site just to check it out thinking I better apply sooner rather than later especially with Lance's announcement. Because everyone doesn't get to run in this you have to be accepted. I'm going to think about this and look into it a little more.
